Butterfly Square

So glad you are here today as we start a brand new challenge over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity:  Birds or Bugs or Winged Things.  So many choices - which will you choose?

This card features the Butterfly Square stamp from Carmen's Veranda and one of the butterfly stamps from the Butterfly Set over at Lost Coast Designs.  The background is a piece of decorative rice paper layered over a piece of vintage text and sealed with Modge Podge.  I stamped a couple of butterflies to the rice paper using black ink - this step was done before I sealed it.  I then edged the panel with gold ink.

The Butterfly Square was heat embossed onto white water color paper using gold embossing powder.  I then trimmed it into a neat square shape and edged it with gold ink.  I then took two different Tim Holtz Distress Spray Inks - one aqua and one green - sprayed them on my craft mat individually, added water to both, and painted the background with a paint brush, using the inks like water colors.
I mounted this to a black square and affixed it to the center of my background panel with foam tape.

If you are not familiar with the collection of square stamps at Carmen's Veranda, be sure to check them out.  There are so many in so many wonderful and creative designs, I'm sure you will find something to fall in love with!

Enter your creations on the Portal for a chance to win some free stamps.  And don't forget to feature rubber stamping in your projects.

Keep Calm and Sparkle Slimline Card

Hi again with another Slim Line card for the current challenge over on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  This one uses the following stamps from Lost Coast Designs:

one mannequin from the Mannequin Set
one butterfly from the Butterfly Set
the Daisy Flourish stamp
and
the Keep Calm clear stamp from Carmel's Veranda.

My background is a gel print made with green and blue Distress Oxide Inks and a circle stencil.  I cut this into the shape of a slimline card and edged it with green Distress Oxide Ink.  Using the same green ink, I spritzed this on my craft sheet and stamped the Flourish stamp into the ink then onto my gel print.

The mannequin was stamped with black ink onto white card stock and cut out.  I colored the corset with blue and green Copic Sketch markers.  I stamped the butterfly from the Butterfly Set onto white card stock, cut it out, and colored it with the same markers.  I cut it in half and attached it to the back as wings for the mannequin.  This was then glued to the card front and a green satin bow was added to the waist of the mannequin.

The sentiment was stamped with black into onto a white square edged with green ink and affixed below the mannequin.

We are looking forward to seeing the fun and artistic slim line cards you create for this challenge.  A lucky winner will receive some free stamps!!

Steampunk Heart Slimline Card

Happy New Year to all and welcome to the first challenge of 2023 over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity: Slimline Cards.  No specific dimensions needed here, just be sure that your stamped artwork fits the slimline esthetic.

For this card, I used the Steampunk Heart stamp from Lost Coast Designs and the Be Happy clear stamps from Carmen's Veranda.  My base for this is a portion of a Gel print made with red and pink acrylic paints and a stencil.  I cut my Gel print into the slimline shape and rounded the corners before layering with a white panel.

The steampunk heart was stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder onto a piece of clear acrylic, then cut out.  The "Be Happy" stamps were done the exact same way.  Both were attached to the card front with white glue that dries clear so does not show through the acrylic.  Final touch was a little pink flower.

Come join us as we begin a fun new year and make some slimline cards - Valentine's Day will be here soon so here's a good opportunity to make some cards full of love for all your valentines!
