Cold and Frosty Lost Coast Designs December Challenge

Please check out the December Challenge on the Lost Coast Designs Portal to Creativity - "Cold and Frosty".  You still have time to enter your wintery projects for a chance to win some free stamps!

This card was made with the Small Snowflake Stamp Set and with the Creepy Dolls by Carri Teddy 2
stamp.  I used as my background a piece of blue and white scrapbook paper and edged it with silver ink.  I then heat embossed the snowflakes with silver embossing power onto white paper and cut them out.  I added a bit of silver Stickles and some smaller silver snowflakes to give them more sparkle.  I stamped my Creepy Teddi with black ink onto white card stock, cut him out, and colored him with Copic markers.

Snowflakes are attached with foam tape as shown, then my Creepy Teddi was positioned atop the snowflakes.  I found a cute winter saying and attached that to the lower left corner.  Last step was to mount this to a white card base and that's how easy it is!

So let's see what fun winter creations you can make!!
Happy Holidays!

GeckoGalz Deck the Halls: Day 17

This project is one I made for the "Decking the Halls" event
happening at the GeckoGalz design blog.  We are creating projects of all kinds during the month of December, so be sure to check them out!

This project is a card which serves as a holder for a gift card.  It seems more and more of our gift giving is taking this form, so this is a fun way to "gift" someone with a card from their favorite retailer.

For this card I used the Gecko Galz mini paper pack called Christmas Sprinkles - I used this both inside and on the outside.

I started with a piece of red card stock which I cut to 4" by 11".  I scored this at 4", 5.5" and 7".  I folded each score line as follows:  valley fold on the 4" score, mountain fold on the 5.5" fold, and valley fold on the 7" score.  I taped the two undersides of the mountain fold together then folded to form a 4 X 4 "present bottom".  I then cut another piece of red card stock 3" by 4.25 " and scored it in the middle at the 1.5" mark.  I glued this to the top of the card so when it is closed the top flap comes down over the top front of the card.  I cut the top portion of the Christmas Sprinkles paper to fit the front of the card, then cut pieces of the lower, dotted portion, to fit along the top flap both inside and outside and to fit across the pocket that holds the gift card.  I cut some white card stock to fit the inside and stamped a sentiment on the upper half and attached my reindeer riding Santa to the bottom half.  I punched holes on both sides at the top of the gift card pocket and attached some small red brads there to hold the pocket securely closed.  Last step was to punch a hole in the outside upper flap and thread some red and white baker's twine through the hole and around the card, securing it closed.  I finished by tying a little peppermint to the baker's twine.

Thanks for checking out my blog, and Happy Holidays!!

Cold and Frosty Snowman

This is a card I made for the "Cold and Frosty" Challenge at the Lost Coast Designs Portal to Creativity.  This challenge goes for the entire month of December, so you still have time to submit your Cold and Frosty designs for a chance to win some free stamps!

This card was made using the Snowman stamp from Carmen's Veranda.  I stamped my snowman onto white card stock with black ink then cut him out.  I then re-stamped the scarf and button portions of the stamp onto white card stock using blue ink, cut those out, and fastened them to my snowman.  I added a top hat,
cut him a larger carrot nose from a scrap of orange paper, and gave him "eyes of coal" using black rhinestones.   The background was created by using blue acrylic paint on my Gelli press then spattering it with white paint to give the effect of snow falling.  I had a little "Let It Snow" sticker on hand so made a little sign of it and positioned it in the lower left corner.  Last step was to layer this with a white card base.

Geckogalz Deck The Halls: Day 4

This project is for the Geckogalz "Deck the Halls" December project.  I have used the Winter Wonderland  and the Christmas Sayings Digital stamp sets to create six gift tags.

I printed my digital stamps out onto red, green, and white sheets of card stock then cut them down to size so they were uniform in length and width.  I embellished each image with either white pen or Nuvo drops.  I punched a hole in the upper left corner and tied some black and white checked ribbon onto each.

The Little Pilgrim

This card was made for the current Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Challenge:  Cute.

I made this card using the Little Pilgrim stamp and the background is the Medium Shrubbery stamp.

My background paper is made with acrylic paints, a stencil and my Gelli plate.  Paints are in shades of yellow and green.  I stamped the shrubbery background stamp directly onto this background panel with StayzOn black ink.  I then stamped my Little Pilgrim girl with black ink onto white paper and cut her out.  Her dress was colored yellow and I added some skin toned marker to her face and hands.  I affixed her to the card front, added the "blessing" saying, edged the panel in black ink, and layered with white and green panels.

Day of the Dead: Yellow and Green Skull

This ATC was made for the Lost Coast Designs "Day of the Dead" Challenge, going on in November, 2018.

I made this using the Three Small Skulls ATC stamps and the Swirls and Dots Border stamp.
My skull was stamped onto white paper and cut out.  I colored it using yellow, green, and orange markers, then added some rhinestones and some Glossy Effects to the eyes to give them some depth.

My background is a piece created using my Gelli plate, some stencils, and some yellow and green acrylic paints.  I edged it with green ink and stamped the swirls and dots border with black ink onto the bottom edge of the ATC.  I mounted the skull atop and that's a wrap!!

Lost Coast Designs Mayan Blog Hop, Day 2

Welcome from Laurie to Day 2 of the Mayan Blog Hop.  I have a fun card to share with you using one of the Mayan Hieroglyphics set of stamps that are new to Lost Coast Designs.

I stamped my Mayan figure directly onto some paper made with acrylic paints and my Gelli press plate with StayzOn ink.  I colored here and there with red marker to add another shade of color.
I tore around the edges and inked the torn edges with black ink.

I mounted this to another paper from my Gelli press using orange and yellow paints.  I edged that in black as well then layered it to a piece of yellow card stock.

Hope you join us at the Mayan Blog Hop!

Lost Coast Designs Mayan Blog Hop: Day 1

Oh there are some really great new Mayan figure stamps on the Lost Coast Design website!  They come in a set and are very detailed and interesting.  We are featuring them today for our Mayan Blog Hop, and I have made a card using two of them.

I started by stamping one of the Mayan Hieroglyphics figures onto white yardstick with black ink.  I then colored the figure and his very ornate robe and "hair do" with Copic markers in shades of rust, turquoise, and dark brown.  I then fussy cut him out.  I stamped the Mayan Stele with black ink onto some orange paper and cut it out.  I didn't cut straight around the edges with my paper cutter but used a pair of small scissors and cut around all the different shaped stones that make the outer border.

I mounted the background onto some turquoise paper which was layered with white card stock and affixed my figure to the center using foam tape to raise him up a bit.

I promise you will have a lot of fun with these stamps - they are such fun to color and decorate and make a striking finished project.

EEK!!

Here is a card I made for the Lost Coast Design Cats and Dogs Challenge.  It's part of the month
long Halloween Blog Hop going on right now.

This card uses the Katzelkraft Striped Cat stamp.  It was stamped onto yellow paper with black ink then cut out.  My background is some orange striped scrapbook paper that I stenciled with a dotted stencil using black ink.  I affixed my kitty to the center of the card as shown and added a little witch's hat.  I stenciled in a couple of spiders and die cut the word "eek".  All was attached to a white card base.  Easy and fun!

Hope to see your dog and cat creations on the Portal before the Blog Hop ends on Halloween!

Just Hangin' Out

Happy October and it's been a lot of fun participating in the Lost Coast Designs Portal to Creativity Halloween Blog Hop.

This is a fun ATC coin I made for the Hop using the new Carri's Menagerie - Bats stamp.  It's one of a whole new collection of fun and funky creatures.

I stamped my little bats onto white paper with black ink and colored them in completely with black marker.  I added some tiny googly eyes to each and cut them out.  My background was created using green and dark blue distress inks blended together onto white paper.  I stamped the Grunge Tree with black ink onto my background, then took a silver pen and dotted some "stars" into the night sky.  I "hung" my two little bats from the top, edged the outside of the coin with black ink, added a "scary" word sticker, and done!

Be sure to check out the Blog for all the fun Halloween projects and be sure to check out the Lost Coast website for the new collection of Carri's Menagerie stamps!

Skellie Tag

Here is a fun skellie tag I made for the Lost Coast Designs Halloween Blog Hop where every day during the month of November there will be a new project to inspire you!

I used the RIP stamp for this tag.  I stamped with black ink onto some background paper I had stenciled with yellow and orange inks.  I cut out around the image and mounted it to a piece of vintage script paper then tore around the edges.  Finished off with a piece of vintage crocheted trim and a bone, this was easy and fun and really says Halloween to me!

Three Monkeys

A card made for the Lost Coast Designs Portal to Creativity mid-July challenge:  "No Body Here"

For this card I used the Three Monkeys stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  I stamped the monkeys onto white paper, colored them with markers, and cut them out.  I die cut two sets of circles to layer, one out of brown card stock and the other from some light brown card stock.  I stamped some script with black ink using one of the ATC Set, Misc 6 stamps onto the lighter, smaller circles and layered them with the larger brown circles, then affixed my monkeys stop the circles as shown.  I then attached these to the center of my card front atop a background paper I had on hand made with acrylic paints and some stencils.  That was layered with a dark brown panel.  I created my words on my computer, printed them out and colored the backgrounds then affixed as shown.
