Vintage Steampunk: Clocks and Gears

I'm here with a another project for the current Vintage Steampunk challenge going on right now on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  For this I used the Clock Square stamp from Carmen's Veranda and the Gears Background stamp from Lost Coast Designs.

My background page is a piece of graph printed scrapbook paper that I stamped with the Gears background stamp.  I used Faded Jeans Oxide ink for this and edged the page with the same ink.  I then splattered some black ink randomly onto the page with a fan shaped paint brush.

My square was first randomly sprayed with Distress inks in blues and greens.  Once completely dried, I stamped the square with black ink and edged it with the same Faded Jeans Oxide ink as listed above.  I mounted this to my background page with foam tape for some dimension, and it was just that simple!

We are excited to see your Vintage Steampunk projects over on the Portal.  Be sure to feature some rubber stamping on you work and you could be the lucky winner of some free stamps from Lost Coast and Carmen's Veranda!

Time Flies

It's the first day of a brand new challenge on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity:  Vintage Steampunk.
I'm here with a super easy steampunk card using the Time Flies stamp from Lost Coast Designs.
Be sure to check out the Steampunk category on the LCD website - there are some great steampunk designs there.

The background for this card was made by using ModgePodge to apply a piece of decorative rice paper to a square cut piece of a brown paper bag.  Once smoothed out and dry, I trimmed around the edges, leaving a bit of the brown paper showing at the top and bottom.  I then layered this with a piece of decorative scrapbook paper cut slightly larger and edged that with a gold ink pen.

The image was stamped with black StayzOn ink onto a piece of off white textured paper and fussy cut out.  I cut around the clock face behind the girl's
face and edged the whole with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  Using a gold pen, I filled in sections of the design to make it look like brass.  I added a bit of color to the girl's cheeks and lips as well as the background behind the lock, then affixed the image to the center of the front with foam tape to give it some dimension.  I added a steampunk heart and vintage button as shown, and that's a wrap!

Please join us for the super fun challenge going on right now through the end of February for a chance to win some free rubber stamps!

Steampunk Heart

There is a new challenge that started on the 2nd of February at The Lost Coast Portal to Creativity called  "Think Pink or Shades of Red".  So your projects for this challenge should focus on color, and the theme is up to you.

I've made a tag for this using the Steampunk Heart stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  I spent a couple of hours this weekend making some new Gelli prints at my kitchen island, and I used a piece of one as the base of my tag here.  It was made using white and pink acrylic paints and a small circle stencil.

I heat embossed my heart with pink embossing powder onto white card stock and cut it out.  I added a jeweled heart as shown and attached it to the center of my tag.  I stitched around the edges, punched a hole in the top and threaded two shades of pink seam binding through the hole.  So easy and a sweet Valentine tag for a special someone.

Come join this Pink and Red challenge!
