Oriental Doll

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Thanks for visiting us here at the Portal to check out this current challenge:  East Meets West.
It's Laurie again, and I've created a card for this challenge using the Oriental Doll stamp and the ATC Text Set #1 stamps, both from Lost Coast Designs.

I started by stamping my image with black ink onto a piece of scrapbook paper, then trimmed around the edges to create a border.  I colored the figure with Copic markers.  I restamped the wings onto a piece of paper, cut them out, and traced them onto some gold paper.  They were then cut out and glued over the original stamped wings.  I layered this with a piece of black card stock.  I then stamped the Asian text stamp from the ATC set onto the same paper and trimmed it down to one row of characters.  I edged that in black then punched a hole in the top of the tag and the top left of my card, tying it in place with some cream thread.

We would love for you to share your East Meets West creations with us, in whatever way you choose to interpret this theme.  You might win some free stamps, and don't forget to use some rubber stamping somewhere on your creations!

East Meets West

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello, hello to all from Laurie.  Our brand new challenge for the last half of May is "East Meets West".  I have created a gold edged ATC for this challenge using as my background the
ATC Text #1 set from Lost Coast - the set has 3 stamps and this is the one with the Asian lettering.
Then I used 2 of the butterflies from the Butterfly Set also from Lost Coast.

I began with an Asian themed piece of scrapbook paper in muted shades of green, cream and red.  I stamped my background with black ink.  Next I stamped the 2 butterflies with black ink and using Copic Sketch markers, I colored them, copying some of the butterflies I found in a book I have called "Encyclopedia of the Butterfly World in Color".

I used gold embossing powder and heat embossed the edges of my ATC.  Using a gold pen I added some gold flecks to the butterfly wings then attached them to my background with foam dimensional tape.

We would love to see your own interpretation of this theme:  East Meets West.  So get out your stamps and get busy creating something to share on the Lost Coast Portal!

Mayan Man

Hello and happy May!  I hope the spring weather has arrived to wherever this finds you, and that you are all safe and healthy.

I have a fun card today for the new "Turquoise and Terra Cotta" challenge over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity using the Mayan Hieroglphs stamp set from Lost Coast Designs.

My background was created by using some heavy paper, a stencil, some Liquitex Mat Medium and my Gelli plate.  I applied a thin layer of Mat Medium to my Gelli plate and using a brayer rolled it on evenly.  I then placed a stencil atop this and pulled a print.  Next I removed the stencil and pulled another print.  Once these were dry I went over them with different colored inks - this one uses blue and green Distress Inks.

I stamped my Mayan gentleman with black ink onto white paper and proceeded to color him with Copic Sketch Markers in shades of terra cotta and turquoise.  I used a silver Gel pen to add some silver touches.  I attached him to my background piece, stamped my sentiment on a white square that I outlined with black, and attached the sentiment above.  I attached a couple of turquoise enamel dots to his necklace to look like pieces of turquoise.  Final step was to edge the outside with some turquoise ink.

These two colors for this challenge work so well together so play around and see what wonderful projects you can create for a chance to win some free stamps!
