Hi again with a project for the "Walk of Fame" challenge going on until the end of January at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.

For this card, I used the Sherlock Holmes stamp from Carmen's Veranda and the Ledger background stamp from Lost Coast Designs.

I have a box full of Gelli prints that I have made over the past months so I dug around until I found this background page.  It's made with yellow, blue, rust, and gold acrylic paints and a couple of different stencils.  I love how the little touches of blue appear here and there - that's what often happens if you don't clean the paint off your plate before you add some new colors.  You get some of the older paint showing through, which I really like.

I stamped the Ledger background with black StayzOn ink - since it's a painted background regular ink won't dry well.  I stamped Sherlock with black ink onto some cream paper and trimmed around the edges, then inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I affixed him to the center of my background paper with some black photo corners.

The final step was to layer this with blue paper and stitch around the edges with black thread.

Flying Mona

Hi again with a project for the "Walk of Fame" challenge going on right now at the Lost Coast Portal.    And I used one of my favorite Lost Coast stamps for this card:  Flying Mona.

I started by preparing my background; using a square of white card stock, I stenciled across it using complementary shades of green Distress Inks.  I then randomly stamped The Large Chickenwire background stamp using black ink.  Next, I stamped Flying Mona onto white card stock with black ink and cut her out.  The stamp comes with butterfly wings, but I decided to cut those off and add my own pair.  I colored her with Copic markers in yellows and greens to complement her wings.  Before I mounted her to my background, I stamped her headpiece directly onto the background then positioned the cutout image directly over that.

I then stamped my sentiment - Lose Your Shoe from Carmen's Veranda - onto a white square and positioned it as shown in the lower left corner.  Final step was to layer my card front with a piece of olive card stock.

We would love to see your projects featuring famous people, so be sure to post them on the Portal for a chance to win some fabulous free stamps!

Anything Goes: The King

Here is a journal pocket with a tuck spot that I created for the "Anything Goes"challenge at  The Lost Coast Portal to Creativity going on during the first two weeks of January, 2020.

I have gotten into Junk Journals the past couple of months and one of my projects that I want to tackle this winter is to create my own junk journal.  So I thought I would make something that I could include in my journal - I have been trying to make and collect things so when my journal is done I will have some fun stuff to put in it.

So I made a journal card with a tuck spot for tucking miscellaneous goodies.  For the front of my card, I used a piece of cream card stock measuring 4 1/2 by 3 inches, edged with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.  I stamped the Postcards Background stamp from Carmen's Veranda onto my card using black ink.

Next I stamped The King Chess Piece with black ink onto cream card stock and fussy cut him out.  I punched some small gold circles to decorate his crown and attached him to my journal card.  I then took a piece of heavier vintage book paper and created another card slightly wider than my first one.  I edged it with the same Distress ink then attached the two cards by sewing around all four sides.  Since the top card is smaller, the left edge of it has remained open to create a little tuck spot that you can slide things into.

I stamped a couple of ATC background cards using ATC Misc 6 Setfrom Lost Coast Designs.  I edged those with distress ink and tucked them, along with a vintage ticket, into my tuck spot, and this is ready to be put into my journal!

Yoga Cat

Happy January to all and wishing everyone a great year to come.

Over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity, there is a new challenge for the first half of January called:  Anything Goes.  So that means you can create any type of project with any kind of theme you like - just be sure to include some rubber stamping somewhere in your project.  And no digital stamps!

For this challenge I made this card using one of the new Yoga Cat stamps from Lost Coast Designs.  I also used the Doodle Circles background stamp and the Sketchy Lily stamp also from Lost Coast.  The sentiment stamp is from Carmen's Veranda and is one of the many great clear stamps - Bottom of Wine Bottle.

I started my card by taking a piece of white card stock and using one stencil but shading the colors across the card front from yellow to green to blue, using Oxide Inks.  I took one of my round sponge daubers and dabbed it here and there with the orange ink.  I stamped the Doodle Circles background here and there with black ink and added a bit of randomly stamped text as well.

I stamped the cat and the flower on a piece of paper that I had used green and orange acrylic paints and a stencil on.  I cut them both out and affixed them as shown.  I added some yellow Dew Drops to the center of the flower.

My sentiment was stamped with black ink onto a white square.  I edged it in black and positioned it in the upper left corner.  I also edged the front panel with black and layered it with some orange paper.

Gecko Galz: Captured Hearts

It's the start of a new year and there is a new customer challenge on the Gecko Galz blog:  Captured Hearts.

For this January Challenge I have created a card as well as a set of 6 ATCs all using the Heart Strings ATC Set as my backgrounds.  There are 6 different ATCs on this sheet and they are all great designs and rich colors.

My card uses the Abigail paper as a background and an image from the Love Is In the Air collage sheet.

For my set of ATCs, I used the following collage sheets:
Love Me Do, Hugs and Kisses, and Kiss Me

I hope you will join us for the fun January challenge at Gecko Galz!
